We Support Mayor Juan Perez
August, 2006
Dear friend,
It has been an amazing year! When I took office as Mayor in April, 2005, I promised that we would save Sheridan Park, that we would bring our budget under control and open the doors of City Hall to our citizens. Most of all, I promised that when I became Mayor, it would NOT be business as usual.
I have been true to those promises. Along with these accomplishments, I have been tackling the very significant budget issues our city faces. We cannot continue to allow expenses to rise while revenue remains flat. We cannot continue to balance increased costs on the backs of city taxpayers. That is why I have pledged to bring a 2007 budget to the Common Council that calls for no increased spending. Period.
When I was elected, I knew that this new way of doing business would make some people angry. I knew that I would be challenging the status quo and special interests.
But make no mistake: I will continue to fight for fiscal accountability, fiscal responsibility and a city that we are all proud of.
It’s a big job, and I need your help. Your support can come in many ways–a financial contribution, a letter to the editor, adding your name to our list of supporters. Change is never easy; the fight against special interests never simple. But with your help, I pledge to continue the work that we have started.
Thank you for your support,
Mayor Juan Perez
